Gendron steps down as men’s tennis coach

SMITHFIELD, RI – After 16 years coaching the Bryant University men's tennis program, head coach Ron Gendron will step down to become the new head coach at Nichols College. The announcement was made Monday morning.

Gendron, who took over the men's tennis program in 2006, helped guide the Bulldogs to six Northeast Conference Championships and six-straight NCAA Division I tournament appearances from 2014 to 2019.  With 200 career victories, Gendron posted a 170-151 record in Division I competition and was named the NEC Coach of the Year a conference record seven times.

"Coach Gendron helped put Bryant Tennis on the map during our transition to Division I," said Director of Athletics Bill Smith. "He is an outstanding coach and we certainly wish him the very best in his transition to Nichols College."

"It is an incredibly exciting time for Bryant Tennis as we embark on membership in the Southland Conference," Smith added. "We will begin our search for a head coach to take us to the next level in the Southland immediately."
