Bulldogs lose both in Friday doubleheader versus Wagner

Staten Island, N.Y. - The Bryant Univeristy softball team fell to Wagner 8-0 and 4-2 in a Friday afternoon doubleheader today.

 "Tough day we're down a lot of kids and have a lot of people playing different positions but I'm proud of how they battled and fought especially in game 2".

• Wagner scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a five-run lead.

How it Happened (Game 1)

• In the bottom of the third, Wagner hit an RBI single with a runner on second to break the 0-0 tie (1-0).
• The Seahawks scored four runs on an RBI-single, sacrifice fly, and a Bulldog throwing error in the bottom of the fourth (5-0).
• In the bottom of the sixth, Wagner hit a two RBi single with three runners on base (7-0). The Seahawks ended the game on an RBi single to left (8-0).

• Courtney Paolantonio and Trystan Salvador recorded a hit.
• Kylie Kenney had two strikeouts.

• In the bottom of the third, Wagner scored on an RBI double to take the lead (3-2).

How it Happened (Game 2)

• Wagner hit a two-out RBI double to center taking a one-run lead (1-0).
• In the top of the second, the Bulldogs had the bases loaded with two outs after Hailey Aspinwall and Jenna Gardner hit singles, and Erica Barley walked. Aleix Hudson brought in the tying run on a bases-loaded walk (1-1).
• The Seahawks executed a sacrifice bunt advancing runners into scoring position and then hit an RBI single in the bottom of the second (2-1).
• Salvador singled and stole second, which set up Barley, who hit an RBI double to left, which tied the game in the top of the third (2-2).
• Wagner slapped an RBI double to left-field, which broke the tie in the bottom of the third (3-2).
• In the bottom of the 4th, Wagner scored the final run of the game on a bases-loaded walk (4-2).

Stats (Game 2)

• Alexis Clancy and Salvador posted two hits.
• Barley and Hudson recorded an RBI.
• Toni Camarillo, Aspinwall, Megan Marcel, and Gardner registered a hit.
• Hudson was walked twice.
• Salvador stole a base.
• Bodington struck out four, and Clancy had one.
• Bryant left 11 runners on base.
