Bulldogs fall to NSU and Rider on Saturday

NORFOLK, VA. - The Bryant University softball team fell to Norfolk State and Rider in Saturday's doubleheader in Virginia.

  • The Spartans broke the tie in the bottom of the fourth.

How it Happened (Game 1)

  • Alexis Clancy hit a leadoff double in the top of the second, which led to an RBI single from Olivia Fee.
  • NSU tied the game at one on a leadoff home run in the bottom of the second.
  • The Spartans hit an RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the fourth to break the tie.
  • In the bottom of the fifth, NSU hit an RBi single and added two more runs on a throwing error (6-1).
  • Carlyn Hernandez hit a leadoff single and then scored on a Spartans error. The Bulldogs got the bases loaded, and Haley Aspinwall hit a sac-fly to left, shrinking the deficit to three (6-3) in the top of the sixth inning.
  • NSU added two more runs on a double to center (8-3).

  • Aleix Hudson recorded an RBI single in the bottom of third after the Bulldogs earned back-to-back walks (3-1)
  • Rider tallied two more runs on back-to-back doubles in the top of the fourth.
  • Toni Camarillo recorded first on a RU throwing error, and then Sarah McKeveny was walked places runners on first and second with one out. McKenzie McAloon then knocked a single to right, bringing home Camarillo (5-2).
  • RU then scored eight runs in the top of the seventh, making the final score 13-2.
