Kenney has a career day on the mound as Bryant splits with LIU on Sunday

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - Kylie Kenney of the Bryant University softball team strikes out a career-high 11 batters during her complete-game shutout in the Bulldogs 9-0 victory over the Sharks of Long Island in the first game on Sunday. Courtney Paolantonio hit her first career grand slam in the top of the seventh inning to solidify the win.

The Black and Gold fell to LIU 11-7 in the second game today.

  • Paolantonio launched a pinch-hit grand slam in the top of the seventh inning.

How it Happened (Game 1)

  • In the top of the fourth inning, Jenna Gardner reached on an error, and Toni Camarillo and Sarah McKeveny hit back-to-back singles to load the bases. Carlyn Hernandez then slapped a single down the left-field line for the game's first run (1-0). Aleix Hudson was hit by a pitch, and Megan Marcel reached on a fielder's choice to increase the Bulldog lead to three (3-0). The Black and gold then scored two more runs on a Shark error to take a 5-0 lead.
  • Toni Camarillo hit a leadoff single, Hernandez tallied a single, and Hudson was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Paolantonio then crushed a grand slam to right field to bolster the Bryant lead to nine (9-0).

How it Happened (Game 2)

  • Marcel and Fee hit consecutive singles to start the second inning. Aspinwall then laid down a sac bunt to advance the runners. Tomaino then hit an RBI single to third base, which was followed by a sac-bunt from Gardner to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead. Tomaino then stole home with runners on the corner for the final run of the inning (3-0).
  • In the top of the third inning, the Black and Gold hit a two-run and a solo home run courtesy of Hudson and Aspinwall (6-0).
  •  LIU cut the Bryant lead in half on two doubles and a single in the bottom of the third inning (6-3).
  • The Sharks scored six runs on a three-run home run, a single, and a Bulldog error in the bottom of the fourth inning (9-6).
  • In the bottom of the fifth inning, LIU tallied two more runs on an error and a single (11-6).
  • Mckeveny scored the final run of the game on a sacrifice fly to left in the top of the sixth inning (11-7)
