Bulldogs split Saturday DH with FDU

HACKENSACK, N.J. - The Bryant University softball team won the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against Fairleigh Dickinson by a score of 7-3, behind a good pitching performance from Kylie Kenney and Jocelyn Bodington. Both pitchers combined for ten strikeouts.

The Bulldogs fell 2-1 in the first game of the day.

 "Good day today. Got great pitching efforts in both games. We were fortunate to come up with some clutch hits in the second game to give us a chance to win a series tomorrow".

  • FDU broke the 1-1 tied with a two-out solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

How it Happened (Game 1)

  • In the bottom of the fourth inning, FDU hit an RBI single up the middle to score the game's first run (1-0).
  • Toni Camarillo hit a leadoff single and then reached scoring position on a Bulldog groundout. Aleix Hudson then tied the game with a single to left field (1-1) in the top of the sixth inning.
  • FDU responded with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead (2-1).

  • Camarillo went 2-for-3 from the plate.
  • Hudson recorded a hit and RBI.
  • Olivia Fee tallied one hit.
  • Allison Tomaino and Fee stole a base.

  • Kenney and Bodington held FDU scoreless after they got within one in the third inning.

How it Happened (Game 2)

  • Megan Marcel hit a single, and Hudson was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second. Then both runners stole second and third, leading to an RBI double from Courtney Paolantonio to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning (2-0).
  • Camarillo knocked a leadoff single during the top of the third inning and then advanced to second on a fielder's choice. Erica Barley then brought home Camarillo on a single up the middle (3-0). Carlyn Hernandez then ripped a single down the left-field line scoring the second run of the inning for Bryant (4-0).
  • In the bottom of the third inning, FDU got within one of the Bulldogs on a solo and two-run home run (4-3).
  • The Bulldogs scored their fifth run of the game on an FDU error in the top of the sixth (5-3).
  • During the top of the seventh inning, Bryant earned back-to-back walks to begin the inning. Then the runners advanced to second and third on a groundout. The Black and Gold then scored a run on a throwing error (6-3). Caroline Paolantonio brought in the game's final run on an RBI single (7-3).

  • Courtney Paolantonio had one hit and two RBIs.
  • Barley, Hernandez, and Caroline Paolantonio posted one hit and an RBI.
  • Camarillo, Marcel, Barley, Trystan Salvador, and Fee recorded a hit.
