Bryants offense leads to series victory over FDU

HACKENSACK, N.J. - The Bryant University softball team scored a season-high 14 runs in the 14-7 road victory over Fairleigh Dickinson Sunday afternoon.

This is the Bulldog's second Northeast Conference series victory of the season, and the third time they have scored 10+ runs.

"We showed great resiliency today, answering every shot they took at us. Our offense really came alive and was able to carry us to a series win".

  • The Black and Gold tallied four runs in the top of the fourth inning to earn a six-run lead.

How it Happened 

  • In the bottom of the first inning, FDU hit a solo home run to get on the board (1-0).
  • Carlyn Hernandez tied the game with a solo shot to right field in the top of the second inning (1-1).
  • The Knights broke the tie with a sacrifice fly to deep center field (2-1).
  • Jenna Gardner was walked and then advanced to second on a wild pitch in the top of the third inning. Hernandez then singled to advance the runner to third. A wild pitch from FDU brought Gardner home to tie the game up (2-2). Aleix Hudson was walked during the next at-bat, which led to an RBI double from Jenna Gardner, bringing home Hernandez (3-2). Megan Marcel then hit a single to right field, scoring the final two runs of the inning (5-2).
  • During the bottom of the third inning, FDU hit their second solo home run to cut the lead by one (5-3).
  •  Gardner hit a lead-off double down the left-field line, followed by back-to-back singles from Toni Camarillo and Sarah McKeveny. Then the Bulldogs earned two bases-loaded walks and a wild pitch to increase their lead by three (8-3). On an RBI single to the pitcher, Olivia Fee tallied the fourth run in the top of the fourth inning (9-3).
  • The Knights recorded three RBI singles in the bottom of the fourth inning (9-6).
  • Camarillo reached on a fielder's choice and made it to third base on a walk and groundout. Hudson then brought Camarillo home on a single past the shortstop (10-6).
  • In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Knights tallied their seventh run of the day on an RBI single to left field (10-7).
  • Marcel hit a double, and Allison Tomaino and Fee were walked to load the bases in the top of the sixth inning. McKeveny then launched an RBI double to right field, which cleared the bases (13-7).
  • Fee scored the game's final run on an RBI single to center field (14-7) during the top of the seventh inning.
