Bulldogs pick up series victory against Wagner

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Bryant University softball team defeated Wagner 4-2 on Saturday afternoon at Conaty Park. This is the Black and Gold's second consecutive Northeast Conference series win.

The Bulldogs are now 8-7 in NEC play.

"Great day to be a Bulldog. We got exceptional pitching from Kylie and Jocelyn and had some clutch hitting with runners on to help us get a huge series win".

 

Key Moment 

  • The Seahawks had the winning run at the plate with runners on second and third with two outs in the top of the seventh. Bodington forced a fly out to give the Black and Gold the victory.

How it Happened 

  • Wagner scored the first run of the game on a single up the middle in the top of the second inning (1-0).
  • The Bulldogs began the bottom of the second inning with back-to-back singles from Aleix Hudson and Courtney Paolantonio. Megan Marcel then reached first base on a fielder's choice, but Hudson was thrown out at third base. Trystan Salvador then laid down a bunt and beat the throw to first, which loaded the bases. Olivia Fee ripped a single up the middle to tie the game at one, leading to a Jenna Gardner single to left field, adding two more runs to the Black and Gold's total (3-1). The inning's final run was recorded when Toni Camarillo executed a sacrifice bunt (4-1).
  • During the top of the sixth inning, the Seahawks posted one more run on an RBI-single (4-2).
