McKeveny's clutch pitching and hitting leads Bryant past MSM

EMMITSBURG, MD. - Sarah McKeveny of the Bryant University softball team launched a two-run home run in the top of the sixth inning, giving the Bulldogs a 3-2 win against Mount St. Mary's on Sunday afternoon.

McKeveny also came in as a relief pitcher in the bottom of the fourth inning and struck out two while giving up one hit and zero runs.

"Incredibly proud of our resilience as a team to not give in and come away with a win. I can't say enough about Sarah to step up with a huge HR and come on in relief and shut them down".

 Key Moment 

  • McKeveny recorded the game-winning two-run home run in the top of the sixth inning while holding MSM scoreless in relief.

How it Happened 

  • The Mountaineers tallied the game's first runs on a double to left field and a single to right in the bottom of the second inning (2-0). 
  • Trystan Salvador hit a leadoff triple down the left-field line in the top of the third inning. Carlyn Hernandez then brought Salvador home on a groundout to first base (2-1).
  • With two outs in the top of the sixth inning, Alexis Clancy drew a walk, and then McKeveny launched a two-run bomb over the left-field wall to give the Bulldogs their first lead of the game (3-2).

  • McKeveny went 2-3 from the plate with a two-run home run.
