Bryant scores eight runs in both wins at home against MC

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Bryant Univeristy softball team picked up two wins against Merrimack on Tuesday at Conaty park, improving their Northeast Conference record to 13-10.

  • Merrimack had two runners on with one out, trailing by two, and the Bulldogs forced back-to-back groundouts to keep their two-run lead.

How it Happened (GM1)

  • The Warriors tallied three runs in the top of the third inning on three consecutive singles (3-0).
  • The Bulldogs recorded back-to-back walks, followed by a single from Toni Camarillo to load the bases. Courtney Paolantonio then hit a triple to right-center, scoring two runs (2-0). Bryant tied the game at three on a Merrimack error. Aleix Hudson gave the Bulldogs a one-run lead with an RBI single up the middle (4-3) in the bottom of the third inning.
  • During the bottom of the fourth inning, Carlyn Hernandez drew a leadoff walk, and Jane Owens advanced to second as a pinch-runner. Trystan Salvador then ripped a single past the pitcher for the score (5-3).
  • Jenna Gardner reached on a fielder's choice, and Salvador hit a single to place runners on the corners. Then the Bulldogs executed a double steal for their sixth run of the contest (6-3). Alexis Clancy then hit a double, bringing Salvador home (7-3). The Black and gold tallied their eighth run on an RBI single from Camarillo.

  • Camarillo hit a single in the bottom of the first inning and then reached third on a stolen base. McKeveny then brought the run home on a single down the left-field line (1-0).
  • The Warriors tied the game with a single through the left side in the top of the third inning (1-1).
  • Hudson doubled to center, followed by a Megan Marcel walk during the bottom of the third inning. AClancy then doubled, giving Bryant the lead (2-1). Hernandez then doubled to center, clearing the bases (4-1).
  • The Bulldogs added four more runs on a wild pitch, a Hudson single, and a Clancy groundout in the bottom of the sixth inning (8-1).
  • During the top of the seventh inning, the Warriors tallied two runs with two outs on back-to-back singles (8-3).
