Several Bulldogs post personal bests in weekend meets

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University indoor track and field team competed at both Boston University and Springfield College this past weekend as three different Bulldogs became either New England or IC4A qualifiers. Bryant posted several personal-best marks along with top all-time performances.  

COACH SWITZER COMMENTS
"This past weekend of meets was a great check point for our indoor season thus far. We walked away with a plethora of great performances including new PRs and some New England/IC4A qualifiers. People are continuing to improve each week and its great to see the progression of the team thus far. We're three weeks away from NEC's so it's time to buckle down for another solid training block and get after it."

MENS TOP PERFORMERS

  • Seniors Adam Winiarz (Norton, Mass.) and Alec Binette (Glastonbury, Conn.) ran in the 200-meter at Boston University breaking through into Bryant's Top 10. Winiarz ran the event with a time of 22.39, as he became a New England qualifier as well as ranking fourth all-time at Bryant. Binette finished the race in 22.74 tying for ninth all-time.
  • Andrew Canale (Lincroft, N.J.) also became a New England qualifier as the rookie completed the 400-meter with a time of 49.34 at Boston University. Canale is now fourth in Bryant's record book.
  • Freshman Jason Dolan (Westford, Mass.) continued to dominate the mile beating his personal-best with a time of 4:16.17. Dolan also became a New England qualifier as well as ranking fourth in Bryant's Top 10.
  • Ryan Dumont beat his season-best time in the 60-meter hurdles at Springfield College with a time of 9.38. Dumont is now sixth all-time.
  • The team of Jordan Dagrin (Providence, R.I.), William Bittirch (Duxbury, Mass.), Christopher Wrenn (Norton, Mass.), and Dolan competed in the Distance Medley Relay for the first time this year. The team completed the race in 10:11.53 qualifying them for IC4A and becoming the second fastest team all-time at Bryant.
  • Sophomore Bill Conlan (Seymour, Conn.) ranks ninth all-time in the weight throw event throwing 13.64 meters at Springfield. Conlan broke through into Bryant's Top 10 ranking ninth. 

WOMENS TOP PERFORMERS

  • Freshman Nicole Xiarhos (Berlin, Conn.) beat her personal-best in the 200-meter at BU running it in 26.60. Xiarhos is now sixth all-time.
  • Freshman Laura Rizik entered Bryant's Top 10 in both shot put and weight throw competing in Springfield. The rookie threw 11.16 meters in both events ranking her sixth in shot put and eighth in weight throw.
  • Courtney Kelleher (Wrentham, Mass.) also competed in the weight throw event at Springfield throwing 12.21 meters falling in the sixth spot at Bryant.

The Bulldogs will take the short trip to Boston, Mass on Friday February 1 and Saturday February 2 for the NEICAAA Championships.
