4x800 team breaks record at NEICAAA Champinoship

BOSTON, MASS. – The Bryant University indoor track and field team had a successful outing at the NEICAAA Championship last weekend as four athletes broke through into Bryant's all-time Top 10 list including a broken record in the 4x800 relay.

COACH SWITZER COMMENTS
"With 20 individual competitors and two relays, New England's turned out to be a great weekend for us. The team responded great after running well last weekend with the Men's 4x800 record highlighting the meet for us. We've been putting in some solid training as a team and it's great to see things starting to come together."

MENS TOP PERFORMERS

  • The 4x800 team of Jordan Dagrin (Providence, R.I.), Christopher Wrenn (Norton, Mass.), Brian Salit (Seekonk, Mass.), and Jason Dolan (Westford, Mass.) beat the school record placing seventh at New England's. The team also became IC4A qualifiers after completing the relay with a time of 7:50.87.
  • Dolan placed fourth at New England's in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:53.33. Dolan not only beat his personal-best, but he also became an IC4A qualifier while placing second all-time at Bryant behind recently graduated Ryan Poholek.
  • Senior Alec Binette (Glastonbury, Conn.) competed in the 500-meter for the first time this season finishing with a time of 1:07.97 placing him eighth all-time at Bryant.

WOMENS TOP PERFORMERS

  • Freshman Julia Ayres (Collegeville, Pa.) is now ninth all-time at Bryant after competing in the 5000-meter this weekend for the first time in her career. Ayres finished the race with a time of 19:11.85 placing 13th in the final heat.
  • Sophomore Courtney Kelleher (Wrentham, Mass.) broke her personal-record in shot put this weekend throwing 11.84 meters. Kelleher is now third in Bryant's Top 10 and placed 17th at the NEICAAA Championship.

As Bryant prepares for the NEC Indoor Championship, the Bulldogs will first compete at the University of Rhode Island for the URI Coaches Invitational this Saturday, February 9.
