Bryant prepped for NECs after URI Invitational

KINGSTON, R.I. – The Bryant University indoor track and field team competed in the URI Coaches Invitational this weekend as the Bulldogs prepared for the NEC Championship. Ten total Bulldogs entered Bryant's Top 10 record book including several PR's and an IC4A qualifier.

MENS TOP PERFORMERS

  • Both Andrew Canale (Lincroft, N.J.) and Christopher Wrenn (Norton, Mass.) entered Bryant's top 10 record book in the 500-meter after finishing second and third at URI. Canale is now fifth all-time with a time of 1:06.58 while Wrenn ranks seventh with a time of 1:07.10.
  • Freshman Jason Dolan (Westford, Mass.) continues to crush his rookie season becoming an IC4A qualifier in the 1000-meter. Dolan finished second at URI finishing the race with a time of 2:29.99. The rookie is now second all-time at Bryant.
  • Mark Rubin beat his personal record in the 60-meter hurdles. The freshman is now tenth all-time at Bryant completing the race in 10.10 seconds.
  • In field events, another PR was broken as Brett Cloutier (North Attleboro, Mass.) finshed seventh in the shot put event. Cloutier is now second in Bryant's top 10 after a 14.43m performance.

WOMENS TOP PERFORMERS

  • The 4x800 team of Sarah Freeman (Merrimac. Mass.), Breann Campise (Tolland, Conn.), Ellie Goyette (Lowell, Mass.), and Caroline Meizen (Douglas, Mass.) completed the race with a time of 10:54.16 breaking through as the ninth best team in Bryant's Top 10 record book. The team ran to a second place finish at URI behind Holy Cross.
  • The women were also successful in the shot put event as Courtney Kelleher (Wrentham, Mass.) threw 12.15 meters ranking third in Bryant's record book. Kelleher finished ninth at URI.

UP NEXT
The Northeast Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship is up next for Bryant as the Bulldogs are set to compete this weekend in Staten Island, N.Y. at the Ocean Breeze Track Facility. The NEC Championship is a two-day event beginning this Friday, February 15 and ending on Saturday the 16th.
