Several PRs broken at Duke, UMass Lowell

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University outdoor track and field team broke several PRs this weekend as the Bulldogs had athletes competing at both the George Davis Invitational at UMass Lowell, and at the Duke Invitational.

MEN'S TOP PERFORMERS

  • Freshman Andrew Canale (Lincroft, N.J.) finished 18th out of 78 runners at the Duke Invitational with a time of 22.04. Senior Adam Winiarz (Norton, Mass.) trailed with a time of 22.52, while senior Alec Binette (Glastonbury, Conn.) posted a time of 22.64.  
  • Freshman Jason Dolan (Westford, Mass.) posted new PRs in both the 800 and the 1,500 while at Duke. In the 800m, Dolan posted a time of 1:53.04 ranking him third all-time. In the 1500, Dolan finished among the top ten with a new PR of 3:55.46. He is now second all-time and became an IC4A qualifier.
  • Matt McGovern (Long Beach, N.Y.) and Noah Tellier (North Kingstown, R.I.) each entered Bryant's top-10 in the mile run at UMass Lowell. Tellier finished with a time of 4:29.20 ranking him fifth all-time while McGovern posted a time of 4:29.20 ranking him sixth.
  • Freshman Mark Rubin (Cheshire, Conn.) posted a season-best time in the 400-meter hurdles with a PR of 1:02.62 at Lowell.
  • The 4x400m relay team of Christopher Wrenn (Norton, Mass.), Binette, Winiarz, and Canale posted a season-best time of 3:19.21 ranking them eighth all-time at Bryant while competing at Duke.
  • In field events, Chris Fasano (Lake Grove, N.Y.) performed to a season-best in shot put throwing 15.33 meters for a first place finish at UMass Lowell.
  • Bill Conlan (Seymour, Conn.) is now sixth all-time at Bryant throwing a PR of 45.72 meters in the hammer throw event.

WOMEN'S TOP PERFORMERS

  • Freshman Sarah Freeman (Merrimac, Mass.) posted a season-best time in the 800-meter at the George Davis Invitational. Freeman finished fifth overall with a time of 2:29.67.
  • Caroline Meizen (Douglas, Mass.) is now seventh all-time at Bryant in the mile run. Meizen finished ninth overall with a time of 5:58.55.
  • Sophomore Camryn Wesoloskie (Manchester, Conn.) finished second at Lowell this weekend in the triple jump. Wesoloskie leaped 10.17 meters and is now eighth all-time.
  • Laura Rizik (Oradell, N.J.) set a new personal-best in hammer and javelin throw. In hammer throw, Rizik threw for 37.38 meters and is ranked eighth all-time. Rizik ranks fifth all-time at Bryant in javelin throwing a PR of 32.91 meters for a second-place finish.
