Bryant to compete at URI on Saturday

KINGSTOWN, R.I. – The Bryant University indoor track and field team takes the short trip to Kingston, R.I. on Saturday for the URI Coaches Invite. The meet will take place at Mackal Field House on URI's campus.

BULLDOGS NOTES AND NOTABLES

  • The Bulldogs have competed at URI every season since 2016. Saturday marks the fifth consecutive time that the Black and Gold will compete in Kingstown.
  • Last season at URI, Brett Cloutier (North Attleboro, Mass.) placed himself second all-time at Bryant in shot put. Cloutier threw for a 14.43m mark placing him seventh overall at the meet.
  • Sophomore Jason Dolan (Westford, Mass.) became an IC4A qualifier last season at URI in the 1000-meter. Dolan finished second overall with a time of 2:29.99 for a personal-best. The time ranks him second all-time.
  • The women's 4x800 team of Sarah Freeman (Merrimac, Mass.), Breann Campise (Tolland, Conn.), Ellie Goyette (Lowell, Mass.), and Caroline Meizen (Douglas, Mass.) finished second overall last season with a time of 10:54.16. The time was good for ninth all-time at Bryant.
  • Currently, Nicole Xiarhos (Berlin, Conn.) and Emily Cluck (Johnson City, N.Y.) lead the conference in each of their respective events. Xiarhos is at the top of the NEC in the 200m after setting a new school record with a time of 24.85 at the John Thomas Terrier Classic at BU. Most recently, Xiarhos came within one second of becoming a New England Champion at the NEICAAA Championships in the 200m. Also at BU, Cluck set a new school record in the 400m with a time of 54.88.
  • Sophomore Julia Ayres (Collegeville, Pa.) also sits at the top of the NEC leaderboards in the 5000m. While at BU, Ayres finished with a time of 18:11.37.
  • The men's 4x800 relay team of Jordan Dagrin (North Kingstown, R.I.), Christopher Wrenn (Norton, Mass.), William Bittrich (Duxbury, Mass.) and Dolan set a season-best time of 7:51.23 at the NEICAAA Championships last weekend. The relay team now ranks second among the NEC.
