Dolan, Alessandro, Ruote sweep weekly awards

SOMERSET, N.J. – Jason Dolan, Nick Alessandro, and Emmett Ruote of the Bryant University men's track and field team swept the Northeast Conference weekly awards. Ruote earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Dolan was named Track Athlete and Alessandro was named Field Athlete of the Week.

Dolan had a part in two first-place finishes as the Bulldogs kicked off the outdoor season last Saturday in Smithfield. The junior first posted a time of 3:56.58 in the 1500m before helping the 4x800 team finish first overall with a time of 8:00.15. Dolan ran the first leg of the relay followed by Jordan Dagrin, William Bittrich, and Nolan Hickey. The team ranks sixth all-time in Bryant's top-10 record book.

Alessandro and Ruote both posted impressive marks in javelin. Alessandro shattered the school record with a 63.71m mark which was good for a first-place finish on Saturday. The record was previously set in 2014 by Joseph Schwab with a mark of 57.51m. Ruote also topped Schwab's mark and ranks second all-time at Bryant behind Alessandro. The rookie finished second overall at Bryant's Tri-Meet with a 59.54m mark to kick off his career in Smithfield. The mark qualifies him for IC4As.
