Bryant to compete in two weekend meets

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Several members of the Bryant University men's and women's track and field team qualified for the ECAC/IC4A Championship as well as the NEICAAA Championship. Both will take place this weekend as the Bulldogs divide and conquer the two meets.

BULLDOG NOTES AND NOTABLES

  • Freshman William Remkiewicz is set to compete in the 400m at the IC4A Championships. The rookie took home two gold medals at the NEC Championship in both the 400 (47.35) and the 4x400 which was a new school record with a time of 3:13.01. Remkiewicz is second all-time at Bryant in the 400m with a PR of 47.17. Sophomore Jacob Goodman will run alongside Remkiewicz in the 400m after finishing 16th at NECs.
  • Junior Jason Dolan enters the weekend after securing three medals at NECs in the 1500m (gold), 4x400 (gold) and the 4x800 (bronze). Dolan will compete at IC4A's in the 800m after setting a personal-best last weekend at Babson with a time of 1:50.10 which is good for second all-time at Bryant.
  • Juniors Sarah Freeman and Julia Ayres will represent the women at ECAC's. Freeman is set to compete in the 1500m while Ayres will run in the 3000m. Both juniors medaled in each of the events as Freeman earned silver in the 1500 (4:38.88) and Ayres earned bronze with a PR in the 3000m of 38:20.45.
  • Patricia Adesanya, Christina Capozzi, and Ana Bertarelli will represent Bryant in the 100m while Nicole Xiarhos will compete in the 200m at the NEICAAA Championships in Connecticut.
  • Sophomore Emma Garrity finished sixth overall at the NEC Championship in the 400m. She is set to run in the event at New Englands.
  • The reigning NEC Champion in long jump, Jasmine Hope, shattered Bryant's school record at the NEC meet to earn a gold medal. The rookie will compete in the event at NEICAAA's.
  • Freshman Lois Warden finished just outside the top three in pole vault at the conference championship with a 3.50m mark. Warden and Shileigh Martinez represent the Black and Gold on Friday at New Englands.
  • After taking second-place at NECs in shot put, sophomore Kasey Thomas will compete at the NEICAAA Championship in shot put and hammer throw. Lily LaGoy will accompany Thomas in shot put as she will also throw in discus. Julia Mechlinski will also throw alongside Thomas in hammer throw.
  • Junior William Bittrich finished among the top-10 in the 5000m at NECs and is set to compete with Evan Coyne at New Englands in the event.
  • The Bryant record holder in the 10,000m, Noah Tellier, will run in the event in Connecticut alongside Peter Theuerkauf. The duo finished 9-10 led by Theuerkauf at NECs.
  • Senior Brett Cloutier led the Bulldogs in shot put at the NEC Championship finishing fourth overall. Cloutier posted a 15.33m mark which ranks him second all-time at Bryant. The senior will compete in the event at the NEICAAA Championship.
