Dolan makes history, qualifies for NCAA Championships

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University men's track and field junior James Dolan made history on Friday, becoming the first Bulldog in program history to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Dolan will compete in the 800m at the University of North Florida in the East Preliminary next weekend. He becomes the first track and field athlete to ever qualify for the NCAA Championships. Dolan will be seeded 25th with a time of 1:49.08.

The school record-holder in the 800, Dolan is coming off a historic performance at the IC4A Championships. Dolan earned a silver medal, the highest medal for a Bulldog in program history, and earned All-East honors. It has been a fairytale season for Dolan as he's broken three individual school records, two relay records, won an individual gold medal in the 1500, a relay gold in the 4x400 and a bronze in the 4x800 at the Northeast Conference Championships.

The preliminary competitions are scheduled for May 26 - 29.  The University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida will host the East Preliminary and Texas A&M University, in College Station, Texas will host the West Preliminary.  The qualifiers out of these two regions will compete in the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 9-12 in Eugene, Oregon.
