Track and Field Completes Final Tune-up Before NEC Indoor Championship

CAMBRIDGE/BOSTON, MA- The Bryant track and field teams competed at two events this past weekend in their final tune-ups before next week's NEC Indoor Championships. Savannah Pineda (400m), Emma Garrity (800m), and William Remkiewicz (400m) all ran into the NEC's top five this season in their respective events.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Savannah Pineda and Nicole Xiarhos both ran the 400 meters at Boston U. Pineda's time of 58.06 is third in the NEC this seasonand fourth all-time at Bryant, while Xiarhos's time of 58.57 in eighth in the conference and fifth at Bryant. The Bulldogs now have two of the NEC's top three 400 times this season.

  • William Remkiewicz ran a 48.58 in the 400 in Boston, good for 20th place out of nearly 200 competitors. His time is now third in program history and fourth in the conference this year.

  • Emma Garrity notched her third top-three time in the conference with a 2:16.50 in the 800 meters at BU. The time is third in the NEC and in Bryant history. She is also first in the 500 and second in the 400 this season.

  • Andrew Canale ran a 21.98 in the 200 meters at BU, good for sixth in the NEC and third in Bulldog history. He finished 36th in a field of over 200 runners in the event.

  • Grace Yost and Maggie Fodera both finished in the top five in the 60 meter hurdles at MIT. Yost's time of 9.35 was good for second, and was 0.01 seconds off of her Bryant school record. Fodera finished fifth at 9.66 seconds, and is now fourth in Bulldog history in the event.

  • Anna Orticerio finished second in the weight throw at MIT with a distance of 14.38 meters. Her throw was the sixth best in the conference this season and sixth in Bulldog program history.
