Bulldogs picked fourth in preseason poll

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Bryant University women's basketball team was picked to finish fourth in the Northeast Conference preseason poll, as announced Wednesday at NEC Social Media Day at Barclays Center.

The Bulldogs were picked to finish behind Robert Morris, Saint Francis U, and Sacred Heart, all of which received first place votes. Robert Morris was picked as the favorite, receiving the most first place votes with five. Defending Northeast Conference champions, Saint Francis U was picked to finish second receiving two first place votes, and Sacred Heart was picked third receiving three first place votes.

Bryant returns 10 of 12 from last season, including First Team All-NEC and 2018-19 Preseason All-NEC Team selection Sydney Holloway (Morgantown, W.Va.). Holloway averaged 17.6 points and 10.8 rebounds which made her the only conference player to average a double-double last season. Also returning for the Black and Gold is fifth-year senior, Naomi Ashley (Hamilton, Ont.) who led the NEC in steals per game by averaging 2.8, and NEC assist per game leader Kierra Palmer (Aberdeen, Md.) who averaged 5.3.

The 2018-19 season will kick off on Tuesday, Nov. 6 as the Bulldogs head to UMass Lowell before their home opener on Nov. 8 with in-state rival Brown.
