Bulldogs travel to West Virginia for Holloway homecoming

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's basketball team travels to Sydney Holloway's (Morgantown, W. Va.) hometown to take on West Virginia for a 10 a.m. matchup on Thursday November 15.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
Last season West Virginia posted a record of 25-12 falling to Texas in the semi-final game of the BIG 12 Tournament.

This season, the Mountaineers are 2-0 topping both Coppin State and NJIT by at least 40 points in each game.

Tynice Martin is the current leading scorer for the Mountaineers averaging 21.0 points per game as she posted a double double with 24 points and 11 rebounds in the team's season opener against Coppin State. Martin also leads her team with eight steals.

Head coach Mike Carey leads West Virginia in his 18^th season as the program's all-time wins leader with 371 career victories.

SERIES HISTORY
This is the first time in history that the two schools will meet also making it the first time that Bryant has squared off with a BIG 12 opponent.

SEEING DOUBLE

Holloway recorded back-to-back-to-back double doubles in her first three games of the 2018-19 season. Against Brown, Holloway scored 27 points and grabbed 20 rebounds. No Bulldogs has had a 20/20 game since Holloway did it against Fairleigh Dickinson last season.

Last season, she was named First Team All-NEC after averaging 17.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 0.6 assists per game. Holloway was the only conference player to average a double-double which ranked her 19th nationally for her double-double performances.

CONNORS FOR THREE

Senior Haley Connors (West Hartford, Conn.) is back as Bryant's top three-point threat in 2018-19. Connors made four three-pointers in back-to-back games to kick-off the 2018-19 season. The senior guard scored her career-high of 18 points against Brown.

Connors led the Bulldogs with 29 3s last season and made a career-high 42 as a sophomore in 2016-17. The senior sank 4 against UMass Lowell with a three-point percentage of 57.1%.

OFF THE BENCH

Stephanie Lesko (Rumson, N.J.) scored a career-high of 13 points against Maine on November 13. Lesko came off the bench in the second quarter and scored 13 consecutive points for the Bulldogs as she went a perfect 3-3 from behind the arc in that quarter.

DROPPING DIMES
Kierra Palmer (Aberdeen, Md.) led the Bulldogs in their season opener at UMass Lowell with nine assists. She currently leads the Bulldogs with 17 assists so far on the season.

Palmer led the NEC in assists last season for the second year in a row, totaling 132 on the season (5.3/game).

NO, NO, NO

Sophomores Julia Kelner (Fayetteville, N.Y.) and Hannah Scanlan (Rumson, N.J.) lead the Bulldogs in blocked shots each with two. Trinity Bravo (Bridgeport, Conn.) also tallied a block in her collegiate debut.

Scanlan led the Bulldogs last season with 27 blocks in her rookie debut. In her first game at the collegiate leve, Scanlan recorded a career-high of three.
