St. Francis Brooklyn up next for Bulldogs

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Starting the conference schedule 1-0 after topping LIU Brooklyn, the Bryant University women's basketball team hosts St. Francis Brooklyn Monday, January 7 at 7 p.m on ESPN3.

SCOUTING THE TERRIERS

St. Francis Brooklyn posts a 7-6 record and are 1-0 in conference play afer topping Wagner on Saturday, 76-61.

Jade Johnson led the Terriers in their last outing with 20 points shooting 7-of-12 from the field. Ebony Horton also chipped in 19 points shooting 7-of-10 from the field adding three boards. Johnson and Horton lead the Terriers in pointer per game as Johnson averages 18.5 and Horton consistently adds 19 a night.

Linda Cimino leads St. Francis Brooklyn in her first year as head coach.

SERIES HISTORY

Monday will be the 20th meeting all-time between the two teams. Last season the Bulldogs and the Terriers split 1-1 in conference play as St. Francis took the last meeting, 66-60, in Brooklyn Heights.

LAST TIME OUT: BRYANT 69, LIU BROOKLYN 62

Bryant won its first conference game of the season over LIU Brooklyn as they currently post a 1-0 record.

It was a total effort as four Bulldogs posted double-digits including, Sydney Holloway (Morgantown, W. Va.) (19), Masey Zegarowski (Hamilton, Mass.) (16), Hannah Scanlan (Rumson, N.J.) (16), and Haley Connors (West Hartford, Conn.) (14).

Despite not scoring, Kierra Palmer (Aberdeen, Md.) posted a season-best 10 assists.

SEEING DOUBLE

Junior forward Sydney Holloway tallies nine double-doubles so far this season, 28 for her career leading the NEC. Holloway ranks ninth in the country for her double-double efforts averaging a double-double a night with 18.9 points per game and 12.4 rebounds per game.

DISHING IT OUT

Kierra Palmer led the Bulldogs with a season-high 10 assists in conference opener vs. LIU Brooklyn. She currently leads the Bulldogs with 54 assists so far on the season and is ranked second in the NEC for assists per game with 4.5. Palmer is 33 assists away from 500 and only six players in NEC's history has ever reached the milestone.

NO, NO, NO

Sophomore Hannah Scanlan and junior Sydney Holloway lead the Bulldogs with seven blocks apiece. Scanlan posted a multi-block game in Bryant's season opener against UMass Lowell with two while Holloway has posted multi-block performances in the last two games for the Bulldogs with two in each game.

HALEY CONNORS FOR THREE

Senior guard Haley Connors started off the season hot as one of Bryant's top scorers scoring a career-high 18 points in Bryant's home opener against Brown. Connors has since went on a scoring draught in December scoring a total of just five points across four different games. After the 21-day break, Connor's hot hand has come back as the senior scored 14 points against Holy Cross shooting 6-of-9 from the field and sinking the only two three's for the Black and Gold. The senior followed up the Holy Cross game with another 14-point performance against conference foe LIU Brooklyn shooting 4-of-13 from the field sinking four three's.
