Bryant treks north for Sunday matinee at Vermont

BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Bryant University women's basketball team looks to extend to 2-0 on the road as they trek up north to meet with Vermont. The Bulldogs clash with the Catamounts for a Sunday matinee on Nov. 17 at 2 p.m.

SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS
Vermont looks for its first win of the season as they enter Sunday in the first home game of 2019-20. The Catamounts fell to Dartmouth, Loyola Chicago, and Minnesota to open the season after posting an 11-18 record one year ago.

The Catamounts have three players in their starting five who average double-digits. Hanna Crymble leads with 15 points per game while Emma Utterback trails with 13.7 a night as Vermont's leading rebounder averaging 6.3. Josie Larkins averages 11 points a night as she also leads Vermont and the Patriot League with 13 assists so far this season.

BULLDOGS NEWS AND NOTABLES
Bryant fell in its first game of the season in its home opener to New Hampshire, 68-56. Senior Stephanie Lesko (Rumson, N.J.) led the Black and Gold tying her career-high with 13 points coming off the bench. Masey Zegarowski (Hamilton, Mass.) and Brooke Bjelko (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) also tallied double-figure scoring. Zegarowski notched a season-best 11 points off 3-of-8 shooting followed by Bjelko who contributed 10 off a perfect five-for-five from the field.

NEXT MAN UP
Lesko led Bryant in its home opener against New Hampshire as she tied her career-high with 13 points. Lesko shot three-for-seven from beyond the arc in just 13 minutes of play coming off the bench.

ZEGA-WHO?
Zegarowski notched her first double-digit scoring performance this season in Bryant's home opener. The senior guard dropped 11 points off three-of-eight shooting. Zegarowski also led the guards with five rebounds and trailed Gallagher with three assists.

LUCKY YEAR NUMBER THREE
Bjelko made her first set of career starts in the Black and Gold to start the 2019-20 season. The 6-3 center combined for 15 points this season after notching a season-high ten points against New Hampshire off a perfect five-for-five shooting.

BOARDING SCHOOL
After ranking first last season in the NEC for most rebounds per game, the Bulldogs continue to dominate the glass in 2019-20. After just two games, Bryant remains as one of the top rebounding teams in the NEC leading the conference in rebound margin with +6.5.

Bryant takes the short trip to Worcester, Mass. on Wednesday, Nov. 20 for a mid-week showdown with Holy Cross at 7:05 p.m.
