Six Bulldogs reach double figures in victory over Fisher

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Six members of the Bryant University women's basketball reached double figures in the 117-38 win against Fisher College today at the Chace Athletic Center.

Juliette Golden scored 20, Brooke Bjelko and Alana Perkins had 18, Nicole Gallagher and Mariona Planes Fortuny tallied 15, and Blanca Chasco posted 13 points.

  • The Bulldogs held Fisher to six points in the second quarter tallying a 55-17 lead at the half.

 How it Happened

  • Bryant started out hot and secured a 14-6 lead ahead of the first media timeout. Perkins and Gallagher drilled three-pointers, Bjeko and Fortuny both tallied four points each during the run (14-6).
  • The Bulldogs then outscored the Falcons 16-5 in the final five minutes of the quarter. Bjelko poured in six more points to finish with ten at the end of the first period.
  • The Black and Gold dominated the second quarter holding Fisher to six points while tallying 25 of their own. Perkins led the way with seven points on 3-of-4 shooting from the field and 1-of-2 from three-point range (55-17).
  • The Bryant defense continued to overwhelm Fisher as they scored nine in the third quarter, and the Black and Gold tallied 31 points (86-26). Fortuny posted seven points, which led the Bulldogs in the third quarter. Bjelko and Perkins posted six points each in the third period. Golden had five, and Megan Bodziony recorded three points.
  • In the final period, Bryant matched their third-quarter total of 31 points. Golden, Chasco, and Marta Neira Martinez each had nine points in the quarter.
  • The Black and Gold claimed their first victory with a final score of 117-38.
