Bulldogs welcome UVM to Smithfield on Tuesday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Bryant University women's basketball team welcomes the Catamounts of Vermont for an 11:00 am tip-off on Tuesday at the Chace Athletic Center.

THE SERIES
The Bulldogs are 4-1 all-time against Vermont, and this will be the first match-up since 2019. The Black and Gold fell in that game 71-66 on the road giving the Catamounts their first win of the series. Nicole Gallagher scored a career-high 21 points in the loss, after going 9-15 from the field, and 2-5 from three. 

SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS
Vermont heads into Tuesday morning's game with a 5-5- record. The Catamounts were on a three-game win streak before falling to UMass on Sunday by a score of 68-63. Josie Larkins led the way for UVM with a 20 point performance. Larkins leads the Catamounts in scoring with 12.4 ppg. Vermont is top of the American East in assists (152) and assists to turnover ratio (1.03).

WHAT TO KNOW

  • Alana Perkins leads the Bulldogs and the Northeast Conference in three-point field goals attempted (86), made (32), and per-game (3.20). All of those marks are ranked top-20 in the country.
  • Mariona Planes Fortuny continues to have a career-year scoring for the Bulldogs. She has reached double figures in five straight games and six in total. Fortuny has also led Bryant in scoring a total of three times this year. Fortuny is averaging a career-high 9.7 ppg. 
  • As a team, the Black and Gold have recorded 142 assists, which leads the Northeast Conference. The Bulldogs are also averaging 14.20 assists per game, which ranks third in the NEC.
  • Going into the matchup with Vermont, Bryant has three players who have reached double figures in steals. Perkins leads the way with 13, followed by Juliette Golden (11) and Fatou Jallow, who has recorded 10. As a team, the Black and Gold are averaging 7.40 steals per game. 
  • Megan Bodziony is now averaging a career-high 20 minutes per game, and with her increased playing time, Bodziony has become the main facilitator for Bryant recording an assist in every game played this year. Bodziony tallied a career-high seven assists in the road win against the Wildcats.
