Bulldogs welcome Wagner for primetime matchup

SMITHFIELD, R.I - The Bryant University women's basketball team welcomes the Seahawks of Wagner to Smithfield for a primetime matchup beginning at seven O'clock at the Chace Athletic Center.

THE SERIES
.The Bulldogs are 19-4 all-time against the Seahawks. Last season The Black and Gold and Wagner split their doubleheader series in February. The Seahawks won the first game 72-64, and Bryant was victorious in the second meeting 49-43. Nicole Gallagher led in scoring for both games with 13. 

SCOUTING THE SEAHAWKS
The Seahawks head into Thursday's matchup with an 8-3 overall recorded and a 2-0 NEC record. The Seahawks have won their last two games, one by forfeit and the other by a score of 65-54 against Saint Francis U. Kaitlyn Maxwell led Wagner in scoring with 19 points. Emilija Krista Grava is the leading scorer for the Seahawks with 13 ppg and ranks fourth in the NEC. Wagner is currently in first place in the conference.

WHAT TO KNOW

  • Fatou Jallow has averaged 16 points in her last two games, after scoring 13 against CCSU and a season-high 19 at Sacred Heart. In this stretch, she has also dished out eight assists and posted four steals. Against the Pioneers, Jallow scored seven of her 19 points in the second quarter and shot 3-4 from deep in the game, which is her best mark of the season from beyond the arc.
  • As a team, the Black and Gold have recorded 180 assists which leads the NEC. The Bulldogs are also averaging 13.8 assists per game, which ranks second in the NEC.
  • Brooke Bjelko now leads the Black and Gold in six statistical categories. Blocks (15), blocks per game (1.18), double-doubles (4), points per game (12.5), rebounds (110), and rebounds per game with 8.5.
  • The Bulldogs, as a team, fight for rebounds as they lead the conference in offensive rebounds per game (13.85), and rank third in defensive rebounds per game with 24.46.
  • Bryant has produced eight steals in the past two games and has 95 total while averaging 7.31 per game.
