Bulldogs will face MSM Saturday on the road

EMMITSBURG, MD. - The Bryant University women's basketball team will face the Mountaineers of Mount St. Mary's in a Saturday afternoon Northeast Conference road matchup beginning at 1:00 p.m.

THE SERIES
The Bulldogs lead the Mountaineers 13-12 all-time in the series and are 6-7 at Knott Arena. The Black and Gold fell to MSM in both games of their doubleheader last season by scores of 92-54 and 87-49. Mariona Planes Fortuny was the leading scorer in the first game with 13 points, and Brooke Bjelko led the way with 17 in the second matchup. 

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
Mount St. Mary's heads into Saturday's game with a 3-8 record and a 1-3 conference record. The Mountaineers dropped their most recent game to St. Francis Brooklyn by a score of 62-59. Ally Lassen led the way with 19 points. Jalia Lee (16) and Alyssa Fisher (13) also scored double figures. Kendall Bresse leads the Mountaineers with 13.9 ppg and ranks second in the NEC.

WHAT TO KNOW

  • Bjelko was named the NEC Player of the Week for her efforts against Wagner and Fairleigh Dickinson. She scored a career-high 32 points in the victory over FDU and is now 19 points away from reaching 1,000 career points.
  • Fatou Jallow recorded her fourth consecutive double-digit scoring game versus the Knights she, shot 4-5 from deep. Jallow is currently shooting 40% from three, which is a career-high.
  • Megan Bodziony matched her career-high in assists with seven and set a new career-high in rebounds with eight on Saturday. 
  • In her last two games as a starter, Shannon O'Connor has registered 78 mins and is shooting 45% from the field (10-22).
  • The Bulldogs have had at least two double-digit scorers in their last seven games played.
