Bryant faces SFU on MLK Day

LORETTO, PA. - The Bryant University women's basketball team is headed to Pennsylvania to face the Red Flash of Saint Francis U. on Martin Luther King Day, starting at 5:00 p.m.

THE SERIES
The Bulldogs are 9-15 all-time against Saint Francis U and are 2-10 on the road versus SFU. The Black and Gold lost both games to the Red Flash last season by scores of 70-66 and 67-56. Fatou Jallow led the way in the first game with 17 points, and Brooke Bjelko poured in 30 points in the second matchup.

SCOUTING THE RED FLASH
The Red Flash head into Monday's matchup with a 2-14 overall record and a 2-3 NEC record. SFU picked up their wins in the last two games with victories over LIU and Merrimack. Jordan McLemore scored 14 against LIU, and Jenna Mastellone recorded 29 points in the game versus Merrimack. Mastellone is currently the leading scorer for the Red Flash averaging 10.6 ppg.

WHAT TO KNOW

  • Bjelko recorded the 18th double-double of her career in the loss to Mount St. Mary's.  She is now averaging 13.5 ppg and leads the NEC in total points with 222, and is three points away from reaching 1,000 career points.
  • Mariona Planes Fortuny returned to the starting lineup and recorded her seventh double-figure scoring effort of the season with 12. She is currently averaging a career-high 8.8 ppg.
  • Megan Bodziony tallied nine points in Saturday's game. This is Bodziony's second nine-point performance in the last three games. She also shot 80% from the field (4-5), which was her best shooting performance of the season.
  • Lucie Castagne registered 12 minutes and shot 2-for-2 from the floor, including making a three-pointer which was her first since the opener against Iona.
  • The Bulldogs have now outrebounded their opponents in 10 of their 16 games played this season. The Black and Gold lead the conference in rebounding margin with +4.8.
