Bjelko scores 21 in loss to SFC

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Brooke Bjelko of the Bryant University women's basketball team scored 21 points in the road loss to St. Francis Brooklyn on Sunday afternoon.

  • SFC was in the bonus for the final seven minutes of the fourth quarter.

 How it Happened

  • The Terriers scored the first five points of the game. Then the Bulldogs responded with a 6-0 run to take an early lead (6-5). SFC then outscored the Black and Gold 14-4, resulting in a 20-9 deficit. Bjelko had six, Megan Bodziony scored two, and Mariona Planes Fortuny posted one.
  • In the first four minutes of the second quarter, both teams scored seven points (27-16). The terriers outmatched Bryant 8-5 for the remainder of the half, making the score 35-21. Bjelko tallied six for a second consecutive quarter Nicole Gallagher and Alana Perkins each hit a three-pointer.
  • Bryant fought back in the third quarter after giving up six straight points to open the period. The Black and Gold scored 19 compared to the Terriers 11 (52-42). Bjelko led the Bulldogs with seven, Fatou Jallow scored five, Fortuny posted four, Lucie Castagne nailed a three-pointer, and Gallagher recorded two in the quarter.
  •  The fourth quarter was a close affair as the Bulldogs earned a 17-14 advantage, but it wasn't enough as the Black and Gold fell 69-56. The Terriers were in the bonus after the seven-minute mark, which hindered the Bulldog's attempt at a comeback.
