4 Bulldogs score 10 points in road victory against Wagner

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Bryant University women's basketball team defeated the Seahawks of Wagner on the road in a wire to wire game by a score of 51-47.

Fatou Jallow posted 12 points, Brooke Bjelko had 11, Nicole Gallagher and Mariona Planes Fortuny registered 10.

 Key Moment

  • Gallagher dove on the floor for a deflected inbounds pass, which she corralled and then passed to Bjelko, who then scored, giving the Bulldogs a two-point lead with 14 seconds left.

 How it Happened

  • Both teams went back and forth in the first quarter, with the Bulldogs earning a 12-10 edge. Fortuny and Bjelko had four. Lucie Castagne and Jallow posted two in the quarter.
  • The game continued to be close in the second quarter, with the Seahawks outdueling the Bulldogs 11-10, resulting in a 22-21 lead for Bryant at the half. Gallagher scored six, Jallow and Fortuny posted two.
  • The third quarter continued the same trend, with the Bulldogs producing an 18-17 edge, including four straight baskets from Alana Perkins, Jallow, and Gallagher. Jallow and Perkins posted six, Fortuny recorded four, and Bjrlko had two.
  • The Bulldogs got the lead to 49-42 with 1:19 left. Wagner then responded with five straight points to make it a two-point game (49-47).
  • With 20 seconds left, Wagner deflected an inbound pass, which Gallagher then dove on the floor for, and dished off to Bjelko, who scored, giving the Bulldogs a four-point lead and the victory (51-47).
