Bulldogs begin the 22-23 season on the road against Dartmouth

HANOVER, N.H. - The Bryant University women's basketball team will begin the 2022-23 season in Hanover, N.H., against the Big Green on Monday evening with a 6:00 pm.m tip-ff.

THE SERIES
The Bulldogs are 2-4 all-time against the Big Green. The Bulldogs defeated Dartmouth 79-69 in their most recent matchup of December 2013 on the road.

SCOUTING THE BIG GREEN
Dartmouth is coming off of a 3-23 campaign last season. The Big Green are returning four top scorers from last season, including Mia Curtis, who led the team with 6.8 ppg.

WHAT TO KNOW

  • Mariona Planes Fortuny will look to have an increased role this season, as the Black and Gold's leading scorer last year (Brooke Bjelko) graduated. Fortuny improved in ppg (9.4), min/g (28), points (274), blocks (25), and reb/g with 6.2.
  • Alana Perkins is coming off her best season shooting from deep, as she recorded a 37.6 three-point percentage last year. Perkins made at least one three-pointer in 21-27 games played. 
  • Nicole Gallagher stepped up defensively for the Bulldogs last year. Gallagher grabbed at least one board in every game played and recorded a career-high 12 rebounds in the Black and Gold's defeat of No.2 St. Francis Brooklyn in the NEC Tournament.
  • Lucie Castagne became a starter midway through the 21-22 season and started a career-high 13 games. Castagne improved in almost every statistical category last year.
  • This will be the Bulldog's first season being a member of the America East Conference.
  • Head Coach Mary Burke is set to begin her 32nd season at the helm for Bryant. Burke ranks fourth all-time among active coaches.
  • Blanca Chasco, Castagne, and Gallagher will serve as captains this season.
