Fortuny drops CH 32 points in loss to Weber State.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Mariona Planes Fortuny drops a career-high 32 points in the Bryant Women's Basketball team's 57-50 loss against Weber State in game one of the Friar Thanksgiving Classic.

How it Happened

  • The Wildcats held the Bulldogs scoreless for the first three minutes, going on a 6-0 run.
  • The offensive struggles continued in the first quarter for Bryant as the quarter ended with a 13-4 deficit. Marta Neira Martinez and Fortuny got on the board for the Dawgs.
  • Both teams went back and forth into the second quarter media timeout. The Wildcats earned a slight 9-7 edge resulting in a 22-11 score in favor of Weber State. Blanca Chasco tallied four points, and Megan Bodziony hit a corner triple on the dish from Fortuny.
  • Fortuny took over in the final four minutes of the half. She scored 10 points and tied the Wildcat's total during that stretch, making the halftime score 32-21.
  • Fortuny continued to dominate the paint, scoring six points in the first three and a half minutes of the second half. The Wildcats countered with eight of their own, resulting in a 40-27 deficit with 6:44 left in the third quarter.
  • The Bulldogs continued to feed Fortuny as she scored 13 points in the quarter, including knocking down her first career three-pointer. Chasco tallied two on an offensive rebound. Weber State scored 10, making the score 42-36 heading into the fourth quarter.
  • The Wildcats outscored the Bulldogs 15-14 in the final period (57-50).
