Bulldogs defeat Hartford on Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Bryant University women's basketball team defeated Hartford 74-46 in the second game of the Friar Thanksgiving Classic. Alana Perkins led the way for Bryant with fifteen points on five three-pointers made.

How it Happened

  • The Bulldogs came out strong defensively, holding the Hawks to two points in the game's first six minutes. Bryant tallied nine from Marta Neira Martinez (5), Mariona Planes Fortuny (2), and Nicole Gallagher with two.
  • The Bulldogs and Hawks had a defensive battle for the remainder of the first quarter, with the Black and Gold earning the slight 7-6 edge, resulting in a 16-8 lead. Gallagher hit a corner three, and Fortuny recorded four.
  • Bryant got hot from deep and hit four three-pointers as they went on a 21-8 run for the first six minutes of the second quarter (37-16). Perkins hit three from deep, and Megan Bodziony hit one as well.
  • The Bulldogs outscored the Hawks 8-6 for the final four minutes of the half. This gave Bryant a 45-22 lead at the half. Perkins hit four three-pointers in the second quarter.
  • Both teams went back and forth in the third quarter, with Bryant earning the 12-9 edge, resulting in a 57-31 lead.
  • Blanca Chasco began the fourth with four straight points. Kiefer and Gallagher both recorded three points, which resulted in a 10-7 run for Bryant (67-38) into the media timeout.
  • The Black and Gold outscored the Hawks 17-15 to earn the 74-46 victory.
