Bio

Bryant University Director of Athletics Bill Smith has announced the hiring of Nick Drago as head coach of the Bryant Women's Golf program.

The women's golf program is one of three programs, including women's bowling and women's rowing, that will become varsity programs starting with the 2022-2023 academic year.

Drago arrives in Smithfield after spending the last two seasons as the head men's golf coach at Wagner College. At Wagner, Drago graduated with a master's degree in Business Administration.  He received his bachelor's degree in Sports, Entertainment, Event – Management with a minor in Professional Golf Management in 2018 from Johnson & Wales University, North Miami. 

Prior to Wagner, Drago spent time as an Assistant Golf Professional at Winchester Country Club in Winchester, MA, which was preceded by a stint as an Assistant Pro at Indian Creek Country Club in Miami Beach, FL.

Drago began his career at the University of Hartford before transferring to Johnson & Wales where he was a member of two Sun Conference Championship teams and competed in the 2017 NAIA National Championship at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, IL.  While at Johnson & Wales, Drago also served as a Golf Management Program Intern in the spring of 2018, assisting with coaching and administration of both men's and women's programs. 

Prior to embarking on his collegiate career, Drago was a four-year standout at Duxbury High School where he was the 2012 Massachusetts state sectional individual Champion, in addition to finishing second in the state final as an individual. 

Those efforts helped him earn 2012 Boston Globe and Boston Herald All Scholastic honors.  A three-time Patriot Ledger All Scholastic selection (2010,2011, and 2012) and a Boston Herald All-Decade team selection.  Drago was also a member of two Duxbury High state championship teams (2009, 2010).

Upon his graduation, the two-year team captain had the distinction of recording the lowest stroke average in Duxbury High School history.
