Bryant meets with Longwood for Wednesday clash

FARMVILLE, Va. – The Bryant University women's lacrosse team is back in action when they hit the road for Longwood on Wednesday, March 11 for the first game of its spring break trip. The Bulldogs and the Lancers square off at 3 p.m. in Virginia.

THE SERIES
Wednesday marks the first time in history that the two teams will meet.

SCOUTING THE LANCERS

  • Longwood enters Wednesday on a two-game losing streak after falling to both Louisville and VCU. The Lancers show a 2-5 overall record with wins over Delaware State and Old Dominion.
  • Kaitlin Luccarelli leads Longwood on the offensive end with 22 goals on the year. She recently posted four goals against VCU and has only tallied multi-goal games through the season. She helps the Lancers average of 12.71 goals per game. 
  • On the defensive end, the Lancers average 7.14 caused turnovers per game. Dana Joss leads Longwood with 12 on the year after causing a career-high of seven at Louisville.
  • Laura O'Toole and Danielle Burke split time in goal for the Lancers as they each earned one win apiece so far this year. Burke has seen action in all seven games, making starts in five, and accumulated 57 saves for a save percentage of .438. O'Toole has appeared in four games and made starts in two. The senior racked up 16 saves with 29 against for a save percentage of .536.
  • Elaine Jones leads the Lancers in her eighth year as head coach.  

BULLDOGS NOTES AND NOTABLES

  • Bryant enters spring break 4-1 overall after taking three-straight including a 16-10 victory over UMass Lowell.
  • Sophomore Alexa Weber (South Windsor, Conn.) broke Bryant's all-time scoring record with nine goals in a single game at UMass Lowell. Weber averages 3.80 goals a game which ranks first in the conference and 20th in the country. The sophomore also leads the conference with 7.60 shots per game and 6.20 shots on goal per game.
  • Sophomore Cassidy Burns (Massapequa, N.Y.) leads the Bulldogs with seven assists. Burns ranks fourth in the conference averaging 1.40 a game and led the Black and Gold with two against the Riverhawks.  
  • Junior Emma Lindquist (Windham, N.H.) netted her first goal of the season at UMass Lowell, marking the second of her career.
  • Junior Giana Kapoosuzian (Merrick, N.Y.) ranks second in the NEC with a 8.80 goals-against average. Kapoosuzian stopped eight against the Riverhawks and currently posts a .457 save percentage.
