Bryant to host SFU on Saturday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's lacrosse team hosts Saint Francis U in its second-straight home game of 2021 on Saturday, April 10 at 1 p.m.

THE SERIES

  • Bryant is undefeated against the Red Flash as they post an 11-0 all-time series record.
  • The last meeting between the two teams was in 2019 when the Bulldogs topped Saint Francis, 20-15.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS

  • Saint Francis posts a 4-4 overall record and a 4-3 mark against NEC opponents. The Red Flash enters Saturday on a two-game winning streak topping both Merrimack (21-9) and Sacred Heart (13-11).
  • Junior Elyssa Enrique is the Red Flash's only goalkeeper and she ranks as one of the best in the conference. Enrique hasn't missed a second of the action in 2021 is 11th in the country in saves per game (10.50). The Ohio native posts a .500 save percentage and a 10.50 goals-against average.
  • Peyton LeConte is one of Saint Francis's top defenders as she's fourth in the country averaging 2.75 caused turnovers a game. LeConte also leads the conference and is 25th nationally with three groundballs per game. In the team's season-opener against Akron, Leconte tallied a season-high five caused turnovers and six groundballs.
  • On the offensive end, senior Emileigh Scott ranks second in the NEC averaging three goals per game. In the last four games, Scott combined for 16 goals including two games where she notched five.

BULLDOGS NOTES AND NOTABLES

  • The Bulldogs dropped their last two games including a 12-11 loss to Sacred Heart on Wednesday. Bryant is now 2-4 in conference play with wins over Central Connecticut and Merrimack.
  • Caitlin Bolen has emerged as Bryant's top offensive threat. In four of the last five games, Bolen has posted multi-goal performances, including a career-high of seven at Merrimack. Most recently, the senior tallied three against Sacred Heart and now averages 2.80 goals per game.
  • Juniors Emily Diaz and Cassidy Burns rank among the top five in the conference for assists. Diaz leads the team with 12 on the year followed by Burns with 11.
  • Fifth-year Gabriella Henry paces the Bulldogs with 12 groundballs so far this season. The graduate student posted two games this season of five groundballs.
  • Devon Bolen, Megan McCarthy, and Burns all lead Bryant with four caused turnovers apiece.
  • Bryant leads the conference in saves per game with 10.67. Most recently, senior Giana Kapoosuzian tallied 10 saves against Sacred Heart for her second double-digit save performance of the season. She posted a season-best of 13 at Merrimack.
  • The Bulldogs continue to rank second in the country in free position percentage (.630) after converting five-of-eight free position shots into goals against the Pioneers. Caitlin Bolen led the free position train with two.
