COACH ROCHE COMMENTS

"Mount is a well-coached team that came out on top today. Our team battled all game and I'm encouraged by a lot of what I saw out there. I'm thankful for our seniors as they have had such a positive impact on our team this season, and I am proud of them. We will continue to build on the foundation they helped set."

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Kenna Kaut took advantage of a free position at the 26-minute mark to kick off the scoring in the first half, but the Mountaineers followed suit just one minute later off a free position to even the score.
  • Skylar Simmonds juked her defender and found the back of the net to give Bryant the one-goal advantage, but it wasn't long before Mount St. Mary's responded with two-straight to take the lead, 3-2.
  • Devon Bolen responded by having her hand in each of the next two goals for the Black and Gold. Bolen found her sister, Caitlin Bolen, at the 16-minute mark to tie the score at three-all. Devon Bolen then capitalized on a man-up opportunity as the Bulldogs held onto the advantage for close to eight minutes, 4-3.
  • Mount's Jordan Butler fired one past Giana Kapoosuzian with six minutes still to play. The Bulldogs answered when Emily Diaz faked out Mount's goalkeeper and sent the ball into the top shelf of the goal.
  • Mount St. Mary's evened the score with just 16 seconds remaining off a free position, 5-5, at the conclusion of the first half.
  • The two teams battled back and forth trading goals, but the Mountaineers took off on a 4-1 run at around the ten-minute mark to break the 8-8 tie and grow to its largest lead of the day, 12-9. Devon Bolen netted one last goal with eight seconds remaining, but it wasn't enough as the Bulldogs fell, 12-10.
