Bulldogs, Mountaineers Meet Again in NEC Finals

SMITHFIELD, R.I.- The Bryant women's lacrosse team will play for a Northeast Conference title Saturday afternoon in a playoff rematch with Mount St. Mary's. The top-seeded Bulldogs eliminated fourth-seed Long Island in Thursday's semifinal, while #2 Mount defeated #3 Wagner in overtime.

Bryant beat Mount 14-10 in this season's NEC opener in Smithfield. The two teams met last year in the NEC tournament, a 12-10 semifinal win for the Mountaineers.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Cassidy Burns set a career high with eight assists in the semifinal win over LIU. She added a goal for a team leading nine points.

  • Kenna Kaut and Skylar Simmonds combined to score nine goals against the Sharks, tying their highest total for the season. Kaut's five goals tied her career high and marked the fourth time this season she reached that number.

  • The Bulldogs will be playing in their seventh NEC title game, and are looking for their fourth tournament title. They last took home the trophy with a 16-7 win over Wagner in 2017.

Scouting the Mountaineers

  • Mount St. Mary's will look to defend last season's NEC title. They took down Bryant in the semifinals before defeating Wagner to secure the championship.

  • Sophomore attack Christina Haspert scored three goals, including the game winner in overtime, to lead Mount past Wagner in the semifinals. She also had a pair of assists in the game.

  • This will be Bryant and Mount's third meeting in the NEC tournament, with the Bulldogs' lone previous win a 9-8 semifinal victory in 2018.
