Rivera, Ritzer take home NEC weekly honors

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University women's swimming and diving juniors Alexa Rivera (Boynton Beach, Fla.) and Gabrielle Ritzer (Sutton, Mass.) were named the Northeast Conference Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, on Tuesday.

The duo helped the Bulldogs earn their first dual meet victory of the season last Friday against Providence College. It is first honor of Rivera's career and the second-straight week that Ritzer has been recognized.

Rivera posted three of the top swims on Friday, winning the 50 free (24.13) and the 100 free (52.32). She also swam the anchor leg of the victorious 200 medley relay team and earned a second-place finish in the 200 free (1:55.46).

Ritzer swept the 1-meter and 3-meter events against the Friars to pick up her second honor. She won the 1-meter with a score of 222.08 and the 3-meter with a score of 221.70.

In addition, Erin Doruska (Ankeny, Iowa) was named an NEC Prime Performer. Doruska won the 200 free, finished second in the 50 free and third in the 100 free against PC. She was also part of the victorious 200 free relay.
