Bulldogs fall to BU, UConn on Saturday

BOSTON, Mass. -  The Bryant University women's swimming and diving team won four events against the University of Connecticut and Boston University.

Bryant lost to the University of Connecticut with a score of 170- 127 and Boston University with a score of 152- 145. 

Coach Cameron's Comments

"We are swimming so well. Great performances by so many.  Came up a little short just didn't have enough left in the end.  The women fought hard." 

Notes and Notables

  • Bryant placed second in the first event of the day, the 200 medley relay. Reetta Kanervo (Oulu, Finland), Kayleigh Canavan (Cumberland, R.I.), Elin Svärd (Falun, Sweden), and Erin Doruska (Ankeny, Iowa) finished with a time of 1:45.79.
  • Kanervo was the star of the day with two first-place finishes in both the 50 freestyle (23.65) and 100 butterfly (56.15).  She finished second in the 100 freestyle (52.29).
  • Heather Wong (Ramsey, N.J.) placed twice at today's meet.  She finished second in the 200 breaststroke (2:25.74) and third in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.51).
  • Alexa Rivera (Boynton Beach, Fla.) and Kanervo placed first and second in the 100 freestyle, with times of 51.93 and 52.29 respectively.
  • Alaina Scifo (Ipswich, Great Britain) won the 200 backstroke, with a time of 2:05.42.
  • Bryant finished the event with a second-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay. Doruska, Canavan, Scifo, and Rivera completed the event with a time of 3:32.78.
