Kanervo and Chambo earn NEC weekly honors

Smithfield, R.I. –  The Northeast Conference awarded two Bryant University women's swim and dive team members weekly honors on Tuesday afternoon.

Reetta Kanervo (Oulu, Finland) was named NEC Rookie of the week for her record setting performance at the Gompei Invitational.  Kanervo set the meet record in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.37.  Kanervo also set the meet and WPI pool record in the 50 butterfly with a time of 24.83.  This is the third time this year Kanervo has been named NEC Rookie of the Week.

Fellow freshman Kyriana Chambo (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) was named NEC Co-Diver of the Week.  Chambo dominated at the Gompei Invitational with two wins in the one-meter dive (400.2) and the three-meter dive (432.4). This is the third time this year that Chambo has been named NEC Diver of the Week.

Temmates Alyssa DiFiore (Wethersfield, Conn.) and Alexa Rivera (Boynton Beach, Fla.) were named NEC Prime Perfromer's. DiFiore set the school record in the 1650 freestyle (17:04.81) and the meet record in the 500 freestyle (4:56.48). Rivera set meet records in the 200 individual medley (2:04.71) and the 400 IM (4:29.50).
