Bulldogs win 5 total medals at Day 2 of NECs

East Meadow, N.Y. - The Bryant University women's swimming and diving team are in first place after day two of the NEC Championships with a score of 290. 

 

Coach Devers Comments:

 "It was a good start to the individual events with two wins from Alyssa DiFiore in the 500 and Kyri Chambo in the one-meter. We had some big swims and great drops from morning to night. Tomorrow is a great day for us so I am excited to see how fast they can go."

 

Notes and Notables:

  • The Bulldogs got off to a great start with a 1-2 finish in the 500 freestyle by Alyssa DiFiore (Wethersfield, Conn.) (4:53.18) and Alaina Scifo (Ipswich, Great Britain) (4:55.62). Erin Doruska (Ankeny, Iowa) and Sammi Grenon (Cheshire, Conn.) placed fifth and seventh in the same event with times of 4:57.62 and 4:57.89.
  • In Diving, Kyri Chambo (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) won the one-meter dive with a score of 209.05. Fellow divers Kate Kirves (New Port Richey, Fla.) and Gabrielle Ritzer (Sutton, Mass.) earned third and fourth with scores of 204.35 and 203.95.
  • The Black and Gold finished the meet placing third in the 200 free relay. The team of Alexa Rivera (Boynton Beach, Fla.), Reetta Kanervo (Oulu, Finland), Kayleigh Canavan (Cumberland, R.I.), and Doruska posted a time of 1:33.98.
