Bulldogs win 4 gold medals at Day 3 of NECs

East Meadow, N.Y. - The Bryant University women's swimming and diving team are in first place with a score of 540 after winning seven total medals four of them being gold at day three of the NEC Championships.

 

Coach Cameron's Comments

"What a fun night to be a Bulldog!! So many medals, so many school records!! I am proud of all the women, we had so many awesome swims. The energy level was perfect. Bring on the final day! Go Bulldogs!!"

 

Notes and Notables

  • The Bulldogs started on a great note with a first and third-place finish in the 400 individual medley. Sammi Grenon (Cheshire, Conn.) won and set a school record with a time of 4:22.79. Alexa Rivera (Boynton Beach, Fla.) earned third place (4:24.12).
  • The Black and Gold continued the tradition of the night with a win in the 100 butterfly by Elin Svärd (Falun, Sweden)(53.91). Freshman Reetta Kanervo (Oulu, Finland) placed third in the same event with a time of 54.52.
  • Heather Wong (Ramsey, N.J.) then added a silver medal to the night with a second-place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.91), which was also a school record.
  • Bryant didn't stop there and captured another win in the 100 backstroke. Alaina Scifo (Ipswich, Great Britain) posted a time of 55.14 to win the event.
  • The Bulldogs ended the night as they started it with a win in the 400 medley relay. The team of Scifo, Wong, Svärd, and Rivera finished with a time of 3:43.61.

 

Next Up

The Bulldogs will look to complete the three-peat on day four of the NEC Championships starting with the preliminaries at 10:00 a.m.
