NCAA announces DiFiore as Woman of the Year nominee

INDIANAPOLIS – Bryant University swimming & diving senior Alyssa DiFiore (Wethersfield, Conn.) has been named a school nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year award, as announced this week by the NCAA.

The NCAA Woman of the Year Award was established in 1991 to recognize graduating female student-athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves in academics, athletics, service and leadership throughout their collegiate careers.

DiFiore is one of four Northeast Conference student-athletes to be named a nominee for the award. The senior from Connecticut medaled in all three of Bryant's NEC Championship victories over her final three seasons in Black & Gold. In 2020, DiFiore won two individual medals – gold in the 500 free and silver in the 1650 free – and contributed to a winning 800 free relay.

A three-time NEC Academic Honor Roll recipient, DiFiore graduated with a degree in Business Administration. She was the recipient of the program's Bulldog Award at the 2020 Athletic Awards Banquet.

DiFiore is one of a record-breaking 605 nominees across the NCAA's three divisions. The Woman of the Year selection committee, made up of representatives from the NCAA membership, will choose the Top 30 honorees — 10 from each division. From the Top 30, the Woman of the Year selection committee will determine the top three honorees in each division and announce nine finalists. The NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics then will choose the 2020 NCAA Woman of the Year, who will be named this fall.
