Bryant to face Oklahoma in NCAA First Round

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The Northeast Conference champion Bryant University women's tennis team is headed to Norman, Oklahoma to face No. 2 seed Oklahoma in the 2022 NCAA Women's Tennis Championships First Round.

Bryant and Oklahoma will square off on Friday at 4:30 pm SST. Links for the match will be available on BryantBulldogs.com.

The Bulldogs earned the NECs automatic bid to the NCAA Championships with one of the greatest performances in tournament history. Seeded fourth, the Black and Gold knocked off fifth-seeded St. Francis Brooklyn in the quarterfinals to open the tournament. Bryant then dethroned top seed and four-time defending champ LIU in the semifinals, becoming the first four seed in the history of the tournament to beat the No. 1 seed. The Bulldogs completed their magical run in the championship, defeating rival Fairleigh Dickinson to claim the program's second NEC Championship.

Bryant's lineup features All-NEC First Team singles players Ada Boru and Leanne Kendall, and the All-NEC Doubles teams of Boru/Kendall and Olivia Rondini/Caitlyn Munson. Munson was also named the NEC Rookie of the Year.

The Bulldogs will be making their two trip to the NCAA Tournament at the Division I level and their seventh in program history. Bryant also qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2015.
