Volleyball falls to Robert Morris, 3-0

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University volleyball team struggled to find its offense against a tough Robert Morris side Saturday afternoon on the road, falling to the Colonials, 3-0, in Northeast Conference action.

Sophomore Claire Van Dyk (New Richmond, Wis.) led the Bulldogs (8-20, 3-6 NEC) with seven kills while junior captain Elena Lohr (Loveland, Ohio) matched the contest high with 14 digs, adding four kills and one of the team's two aces. Arden Fisher paved the way for Robert Morris (6-18, 5-3) with a match-best nine kills, also contributing an ace, 11 digs and two blocks.

Freshman Carissa Gould (Woonsocket, R.I.) dished out 13 assists (one ace) to 25 from her Colonial counterpart Hannah Hoffman, while Melissa Bograd tied Lohr's defensive output with 14 digs. Bulldog senior Mikayla LaRosa (Marysville, Wash.) added 13 digs while rookie Mallory Wilczynski (Cary, Ill.) and senior Alexandria Clyburn (Cartersville, Ga.) each posted three blocks.

As a team, Robert Morris topped Bryant in kills, 31-21, digs, 47-42 and blocks, 7.5-5, and won in straight sets, 25-16, 25-16, 25-15. The Bulldogs will have a week to make adjustments before returning to the court at Central Connecticut Nov. 2 at 1 p.m.
