Lohr records double-double in loss to SHU

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Senior Elena Lohr (Loveland, Ohio) registered a double-double with 16 assists and 11 digs but it wasn't enough as Sacred Heart handed the Bryant University women's volleyball team 3-0 defeat on Sunday afternoon at the Pitt Center.

The Bulldogs (8-23, 3-9 NEC) have now dropped their last five matches and were swept in the season series with the Pioneers (14-14, 8-4).

On Sunday, Sacred Heart cruised in three sets, 25-17, 25-16 and 25-14. Bryant forged a 13-13 tie in the first set but the Pioneers rattled off 12 of the final 16 points to grab the set. Kills by Kaitlyn Klein (Modesto, Calif.) and Alexandria Clyburn (Cartersville, Ga.) gave the Bulldogs a brief 10-8 lead in set two but SHU answered with five-straight points on its way to the set victory. Back-to-back attack errors on the Pioneers tied the third set at 11-all but the hosts were able to pull away for the 25-14 match clincher.

After playing six-straight games on the road, the Bulldogs will wrap up their regular season this weekend when they host St. Francis Brooklyn (Nov. 16) and LIU Brooklyn (Nov. 17). Saturday's match is set for 3:00 p.m. and Sunday's senior day game is set for 1:00 p.m.
