SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University volleyball rising-sophomore Carissa Gould (Woonsocket, R.I.) was officially sworn into the Bryant ROTC Program on May 2, 2014 after completing her first year with the organization in 2013-14.

Gould is the first member of the Bulldog volleyball team to join the prestigious ROTC program and is a two-time Dean's List qualifier entering her sophomore year. An athlete who can step into roles as a setter, libero or defensive specialist for the Black and Gold, Gould appeared in 32 matches as a rookie, posting 127 assists and 124 digs, both ranking in the team's top five.

Gould's top effort came in a 3-2 victory over Northeast Conference foe Saint Francis U. on Oct. 12, when she dished out a career-best 37 assists, adding 10 digs and a career-high four aces for her first collegiate double-double.

An applied psychology major, Gould was awarded the Patriot Athlete Award, the Silver Medal Athlete Award, the ROTC Honors Award and the Dean's List Award by the ROTC in 2013-14.

The ROTC program is designed to train and qualify men and women for commission as Second Lieutenants in the U.S. Army while they pursue an academic program of their choice.
