Bryant opens homestand Tuesday vs. New Hampshire

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University volleyball team plays the first of four home matches this week when the Bulldogs host New Hampshire Tuesday night at the Chace Athletic Center.

Series History vs. New Hampshire
The Bulldogs are 3-8 all-time against the Wildcats and 3-6 since moving to Division I. Tuesday marks the 10th straight year in which the teams have squared off. 

New Hampshire took last year's meeting in three sets in Durham. Kirstyn Sperry (Phoenix, Ariz.) collected 18 assists, 10 digs and three blocks.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Bryant is 4-3 on the year after a 1-2 weekend at the Rose Hill Classic. The Bulldogs fell in five sets to Charlotte Friday and Fordham Saturday with a four-set win over Marist in between Friday night.
  • Sophomore Mackenzie Wild (Rochester, Mich.) was named to the all-tournament team at the Rose Hill Classic.
  • Sperry has recorded double-doubles in all seven matches to begin 2018.
  • Redshirt-senior Julia Flynn (Pembroke, Mass.) and freshman Caroline Kennedy (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) tallied 15 kills each in Friday night's win over Marist.
  • Kennedy had 15 or more kills in all three matches on the weekend, adding 20 against Charlotte and 17 in the Fordham match.
  • Bryant is 37-4 (.902) at home since the start of 2015.
  • Head coach Theresa Garlacy begins the week with 498 career victories.

A Bit About New Hampshire
The Wildcats are 1-5 on the year after an 0-3 weekend at UConn, falling to the host Huskies, Syracuse and Iona. New Hampshire's lone victory to this point in the year came in the Wildcats' opening match at Milwaukee Aug. 24. 

Gabri Olhava leads New Hampshire with 2.83 kills per set on a .305 hitting percentage. Emily Tanski has tallied 6.33 digs per set.

Bryant hosts the Hampton Inn-vitational at the Chace Athletic Center Friday and Saturday. The Bulldogs will host Middle Tennessee Friday at 4 p.m. before a doubleheader against Coppin State and Quinnipiac Saturday.
