Kennedy earns Molten/NEC Rookie of the Week honors

SOMERSET, N.J. – Bryant University volleyball freshman Caroline Kennedy (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) has earned Molten/Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week honors for the week ending Sept. 2, as announced Tuesday by the NEC office.

Kennedy tallied 3.65 kills and 2.12 digs per set along with seven blocks and five aces in a 2-2 week for the Bulldogs. The freshman from California recorded 15 or more kills in all three matches at last weekend's Rose Hill Classic, including 20 in the Friday opener against Charlotte. Kennedy posted double-doubles in both Friday matches with a career-high 14 digs in Friday night's win over Marist.

For the year, Kennedy leads the team with 3.32 kills per set and has added 2.04 digs and 0.46 blocks per set. Kennedy has recorded 10 or more kills in six of seven matches to begin her collegiate career.

Bryant returns to action Tuesday night when the Bulldogs host New Hampshire at 7 p.m. at the Chace Athletic Center.
