Bryant battles Brown Tuesday on ESPN+

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Bryant University volleyball team plays an in-state opponent for the second-straight Tuesday with a midweek match on the East Side of Providence against Brown.

Series History vs. Brown
Bryant is 7-15 all-time against Brown and 3-4 in the Division I era. The Bulldogs downed the Bears last season, coming back from a 2-0 deficit to win in five sets at the Hampton Inn-vitational. Brianna Bruny (Biscayne Park, Fla.) tallied 12 kills on a .500 hitting percentage and added five blocks in the victory.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Bryant is 9-6 on the year after a 1-2 weekend at the Stony Brook Invite. The Bulldogs picked up a five-set win Friday night over defending America East champion Stony Brook.
  • Redshirt-senior Julia Flynn (Pembroke, Mass.) recorded 17 kills in the win over the Seawolves, while senior Kristin Kingi (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) had 14 kills and 14 digs.
  • Kingi recorded a career-high 21 digs in Friday's match against Delaware.
  • Flynn was named to the all-tournament team at the Stony Brook Invite. The Massachusetts native enters the week 83 kills shy of 1,000 for her collegiate career.
  • Friday marked the second time in three years that Bryant has defeated the defending America East champion in a regular-season match.
  • Freshman Caroline Kennedy (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) posted 12 kills against Stony Brook and 15 against Colgate. Kennedy has tallied double-digit kills in 13 of 15 matches to begin her collegiate career.
  • Head coach Theresa Garlacy won her 500th career match in Saturday's sweep of Coppin State. Garlacy is now at 503 career wins.
  • With a win, Bryant would run its winning streak against in-state opponents to four.

A Bit About Brown
The Bears are 6-3 after a 2-1 weekend at Stetson with wins over Chicago State and the host Hatters. Brown is 1-1 against mutual opponents with a sweep of UMass Lowell and a four-set loss to Providence.

Sabrina Stillwell leads Brown with 4.57 kills per set on a .263 hitting percentage. Brown is hitting .243 as a team. Jacqueline Jacobs has recorded a team-high 1.09 blocks per set.
